Low emission zones

In order to improve air quality in inner-city areas and conurbations, more than 46 German towns and cities have now set up low emission zones and many more intend following suit. At the start of 2010, some cities even took the additional step of tightening up restrictions put in place beforehand. Berlin is a case in point: at the time of writing, only vehicles with a green LEZ sticker indicating a low-emissions classification are permitted into the inner-city area. Since the start of 2010, Bremen and Frankfurt am Main require either a green sticker or the yellow sticker for the slightly less stringent low-emissions classification.

Drivers who enter a low emission zone without a valid sticker risk not only a fine to the tune of €40 but having their licence endorsed with one penalty point. Owners of diesel-engined cars, light trucks and HGVs should therefore make it their priority to get their vehicles a green (or at least a yellow) sticker ahead of time. Before too long, more than 80 low emission zones (LEZs) will have been set up in Germany

Retrofitted, so fit-for-purpose in LEZs

Commercial vehicles such as Heavy Duty Trucks, delivery vehicles and buses fitted with HJS 100% filter systems qualify incontrovertibly for the green LEZ sticker and unrestricted access to low emission zones.
