HJS History

1976

  • The company was founded by Hermann Josef Schulte - Mounting parts for exhaust gas systems

1985

  • Start of catalytic converters production

1992

  • HJS starts research and development of exhaust technology for diesel motors

1995

  • Market launch of CRT® filter system (Continuously Regenerating Technology) for diesel emission control in cooperation with Johnson Matthey / UK
  • Start of SCR technology development (nitrogen oxide reduction / basis ammonium carbamate)

1996

  • Market launch retrofit concept HJS KAT 2000
  • Automechanika award for innovative developments in the automotive technology

1998

  • Acquisition of tech. weapons silencer company Schmid / Donzdorf, Germany
  • Presentation of SCRT® system (SCRT® = particle filter + DeNox for diesel engines)
  • BDI-award for SCRT® system (Selective Catalytic Reduction Technology)

1999

  • Launch of closed-loop-controlled catalytic converters (G-Kat) in Beijing/ China for retrofitting

2000

  • Joint venture with PUREM: development of diesel exhaust-gas aftertreatment for commercial vehicles (DaimlerChrysler / HJS)

2001

  • SCRT® - Patent Johnson Matthey / HJS / Daimler AG (Selective Catalytic Reduction Technology)

2001

  • SCRT® Patent Co-Ownership Johnson Matthey / HJS / Daimler AG (Selective Catalytic Reduction Technology)

2002

  • Presentation of the Sintered Metal Diesel Particulate Filter (JETFilter®)
  • JET Filter® - HJS grants licence for passenger car applications to Robert Bosch

2003

  • „Deutscher Umweltpreis 2003“ (German Environmental Award)

2005

  • Formation of the subsidiary company DES – Diesel Exhaust Systems - Diesel emission reduction technologies for commercial vehicle and non-road applications.

2006

  • The Initiative „Germany – Land of Ideas“ sponsored by the German Government has selected HJS as one landmark in the “Land of Ideas” for the development of the innovative and efficient Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF®) made of sintered metal.
  • Sales cooperation DES and MANN+HUMMEL – Diesel emission reduction technologies for multiple non-road applications in international markets.

2007

  • 30 Years HJS – HJS Environmental Days with German Environment Minister

2008

  • „NON-ROAD“-Exhaust Systems – HJS Patent

2010

  • Presentation „Standalone Exhaust-gas Aftertreatment “ for mobile Machinery and stationary Applications at the bauma 2010
