In terms of environmental policy, it is vital that the fine particulate matter (soot) created by diesel engines is removed from the
exhaust gas. The modular CRT
® system has proved to be the most effective "weapon" with which to achieve this. More
than 20,000 buses in Europe have now been fitted with CRT
® systems. They reduce both the mass of particulate matter
and the proportion of fine particles. In the CRT
® system, soot is trapped and continuously burnt off.
CRT® combine the effect of a particulate filter with that of an oxidation catalytic converter. The nitrogen dioxide
(NO2) that is formed in the catalytic converter makes it possible for the soot deposits in the trap to be continuously
burnt off at a temperature range of 250 to 450 °C.
