How does the EURO TR2 system work?

A sensor measures the temperature of the engine coolant. If the signal sent by the sensor tells the EURO TR2 control unit that the engine is cold, the control unit increases the engine´s idling speed to 1200 to 1600 rpm for a period of 60 seconds. This higher idling speed means the catalytic converter reaches its normal operating temperature quicker and the overall emissions of the car are reduced.
