HJS at busworld from October 18-23

September 26, 2019

From October 18 – 23, HJS will be represented at busworld in Brussels. Interested visitors can obtain comprehensive information about the company and the latest technologies and services from HJS at Stand 3108 in Hall 3.

Uncompromisingly clean diesel as the key to clean city centers

HJS serves the full range of commercial vehicles with Euro VI emission technology: from vans and municipal vehicles to buses, certified in accordance with the Clean Vehicle Retrofit Accreditation Scheme (CVRAS) (UK) or the German Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) (DE).

For years, municipalities in Europe have been fighting against the persistently poor air quality in many city centers. The aim of politicians is to significantly reduce air pollution in the shortest possible time without restricting mobility or logistics. Retrofitting diesel commercial vehicles with the best possible reduction in pollutants is an effective and economically viable alternative to drastic driving bans in the short term.

Extension of funding to other vehicle classes
Starting with public transport buses, the programs to promote retrofitting with state-of-the-art exhaust technology were also extended to municipal vehicles and light commercial vehicles in the course of the year in both Germany and the UK, and the possible funding rates were increased to up to 95% across the board. HJS will be presenting its latest technical developments in this segment at the forthcoming busworld in Brussels.

Reducing pollutants as much as possible instead of just as much as necessary
Modern Euro VI diesel vehicles offer maximum exhaust gas purification through the combined use of particulate filters and SCR technology. However, especially in inner-city traffic, vehicles often do not reach the temperature required for the SCR catalytic converter to function optimally. This effect is exacerbated in winter by the low ambient temperature. Vehicle manufacturers can only meet the stringent requirements of the Euro VI emissions standard safely and in every operating state by using engine thermal management.

HJS is adapting this approach with the SCRT®-TM architecture for retrofitting. SCRT®-TM enables the operation of existing Euro V/EEV vehicles (which do not have engine thermal management) with the emission quality of modern Euro VI buses and also reduces emissions by up to 95% in urban operation – this means even 10% more than required by the KBA in Germany to obtain an ABE.

How SCRT® with active thermal management works
Active thermal management uses networked actuators to ensure that the highest possible NOx reduction is always achieved in the SCR catalytic converter – without affecting the engine. Furthermore, active thermal management ensures that the particulate filter is regenerated even under the coldest operating conditions. “The demanding subsidy guidelines in Germany are one aspect for the use of active thermal management, but our claim goes beyond compliance with the guidelines – we want to offer the best technically possible NOx reduction performance and guarantee this sustainably and permanently in real operation,” says Jan Ebbing, Sales Manager at HJS.
