For school pupils looking for a training place, it is often difficult to gauge how good training companies actually are. The ‘Excellent Training Company’ seal of approval therefore provides them with reliable and neutral guidance.
HJS is one of the first companies this year to receive the ‘Excellent Training Company’ seal of approval for its outstanding training quality. In an anonymous survey, trainees answered around 100 detailed questions about the quality of their training. Topics included training content, how trainees are treated within the company and future prospects.
For the seal of approval, key figures such as the number of trainees taken on and the dropout rate were also collected from HR managers. ‘By combining these key figures with the trainees’ assessments, young people receive reliable information about how good a training company actually is,’ says business psychologist Judith Grefe from ‘ertragswerkstatt’, which oversees the awarding of the seal. This is because only companies that receive good marks from their trainees and are particularly committed to training are awarded the ‘Excellent Training Company 2026’ seal.
The seal of approval has been awarded annually since 2013. In recent years, more than 100 companies have had the quality of their training comprehensively assessed each year. The ‘Excellent Training Company’ initiative is thus the largest independent and neutral certification for training companies in Germany.
The prerequisite for participation was that the companies train at least five apprentices. ‘This is important to us because it was the only way we could conduct an anonymous survey in which the apprentices could answer openly and honestly,’ says Judith Grefe from ‘ertragswerkstatt’.

For Sarah Schäfer, Commercial Director at HJS, training young people is a high priority – both for the future of her own company and for strengthening the region. This makes the extremely positive feedback from the trainees all the more gratifying: they attest to the outstanding quality of training at HJS. Particular mention was made of the appreciative support provided by the trainers, the high retention rate after completion of the training, the good working atmosphere among employees and the very positive mood among the trainees.
