Free travel even with driving bans
HJS is the first company on the German market to receive approval for an exhaust gas purification system specially designed for tradesmen’s and delivery vehicles. The hardware retrofit with SCR system from HJS guarantees clean air and keeps tradesmen’s and delivery vehicles mobile – even in the event of driving bans.
HJS Emission Technology GmbH & Co KG has received a general operating permit (ABE) from the KBA for “nitrogen oxide (NOx) reduction systems with increased reduction performance for retrofitting to light craftsmen’s and delivery vehicles”. This means that owners of commercially used vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of 2.8 tons or more can have their vehicles retrofitted with state-of-the-art exhaust technology with state funding and are therefore not affected by driving bans.

Efficient exhaust gas cleaning – even at low temperatures and in partial load operation
With the help of proven SCR technology, the innovative HJS hardware converts nitrogen oxides into harmless nitrogen and water vapor by adding the additive AdBlue®. However, a certain minimum temperature is a prerequisite for a stable exhaust gas purification effect. This is often not safely achieved, especially in the case of tradesmen’s and delivery vehicles in urban operation, because they are mainly driven in short-distance and partial-load operation. With active thermal management, HJS ensures that the SCR catalytic converter always works with the best possible NOx reduction. The system has no influence whatsoever on the engine. The robust HJS system has undergone extensive test drives and test bench trials to ensure that it always functions optimally, even in tough conditions on construction sites or in delivery traffic. The control unit specially developed by HJS is also used, for example, in construction machinery, tractors and heavy commercial vehicles.
Up to 80 percent of the conversion is subsidized by the state
Hardware retrofits are to be increasingly carried out in the 65 cities in which the nitrogen oxide limit value of 40 micrograms per cubic meter of air is exceeded. Installation is subsidized with up to 80 percent of the total costs. The Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) is subsidizing hardware retrofits with a total of 333 million euros in order to improve air quality and avoid driving bans.

Installation and supply options
During operation, the systems are comparable to the series solutions of modern Euro 6/VI commercial vehicles. Depending on the vehicle type, around 3%-5% Adblue® of diesel consumption can be expected, the additional fuel consumption is less than 6%.
In principle, the systems can be installed by any recognized vehicle workshop. Interested companies can contact HJS directly for details on costs, installation and training options. HJS offers individual solutions for operators of larger fleets.
HJS is now accepting inquiries on 02373 987 225. At the same time, the company is promoting the pooling of individual companies with the chambers of trade and trade associations in order to offer customers better conditions by bundling orders.
