Small sensors, big effect: HJS offers an extended range of sensors for the most common vehicle models

June 1, 2017

Menden, June 2017 – A defective sensor does not make drivers happy. Error messages in the on-board electronics or poorer exhaust emissions can be the unpleasant consequence. Fortunately, however, a new differential pressure or temperature sensor is often sufficient.

  • Problem: If the sensors are defective, unpleasant consequences occur
  • Expanded range of differential pressure and temperature sensors at HJS
  • 250 different sensors for around 7,500 vehicle applications in the range
  • Sensors for cars, buses, light commercial vehicles and trucks
  • HJS quality: Components as from the car manufacturer

Differential pressure and temperature sensors may only be small components, but they are effective and efficient. This often only becomes clear when they are not working. HJS, the South Westphalian specialist for exhaust technology components, now offers over 250 different sensors in original spare part quality (OE quality) for around 2,700 vehicle applications in its enlarged and expanded range.

What a temperature sensor does

Poorer exhaust emissions, increased fuel consumption, altered driving behavior or the engine control light coming on: these can be the consequences of a defective exhaust gas temperature sensor. These small sensors monitor and protect the turbocharger, the catalytic converter, the exhaust gas recirculation system and the diesel particulate filter. Thanks to their special design, the sensors monitor the exhaust gas temperature, allowing the temperature to be optimally regulated. This enables not only environmentally friendly but also effective operation of the engine. The components are also protected from overheating.

Pressure sensors are also small problem solvers

Pressure sensors are also effective. If these do not work, it becomes unpleasant. Error messages from the on-board electronics often lead to the diesel particulate filter. However, this often does not need to be replaced. Instead, a defective differential pressure sensor can also be responsible for these error messages. This sensor measures the differential pressure resulting from the exhaust gas flow before and after the filter. Because this can sometimes be more or less loaded with soot and ash, the flow resistance varies. The sensor’s calculations therefore initiate regular regeneration of the diesel particulate filter.

Vehicle-specific variants, high-quality material

The sensors are available from HJS in many variants. In addition to passenger cars, the product developers have also considered light commercial vehicles, buses and trucks. The MAP sensors in original spare part quality should also be mentioned. These determine the intake air mass, which allows the air-fuel mixture in the engine to be controlled.

Every sensor in original spare part quality

HJS has recognized how important it can be to have high-quality sensors in its range. The Menden-based specialist for exhaust technology components therefore offers an extensive range of sensors for the most common vehicle models. Great emphasis is placed on quality: Every sensor is of original spare part quality. Customers can expect exactly the same quality as from the car manufacturer. That is HJS’s claim.

HJS: 40 years of experience in development and production

“All products are thoroughly tested,” says HJS Product Manager Sensors Thomas Schulz. “They comply with the specifications and product standards of the car manufacturers in all respects.” More than 40 years of experience in development and production guarantee high accuracy of fit and material resistance.

Repair solutions and special accessories

The Menden-based company also offers various repair solutions and special accessories. The repair kits with connecting hoses are popular and can eliminate the need for an early visit to the workshop. The new repair kits from HJS include two silicone hoses that can withstand the high temperatures in the area of the diesel particulate filter. In addition, there are two bite-resistant breeze protection hoses that are certified by one of the largest German car manufacturers.

How HJS kits can save you money

Some suppliers only offer these replacement hoses in conjunction with a sensor. The sets from HJS can therefore save several hundred euros. Damage can be repaired precisely because only what is really defective is replaced.

About HJS:

As a medium-sized company based in Menden/Sauerland, HJS Emission Technology GmbH & Co. KG, founded in 1976, stands for many years of experience and expertise in the field of exhaust gas aftertreatment. Around 400 employees develop, manufacture and market modular systems for reducing pollutant emissions. The innovative environmental protection technologies are used both as original equipment and for retrofitting in passenger cars, light to heavy commercial vehicles and in mobile and stationary applications in the non-road sector. In addition to systems for petrol engines, HJS today primarily offers solutions for diesel engines – especially for the reduction of soot particles and nitrogen oxides. With extensive patent rights for DPF® (Diesel Particulate Filter) and SCRT® (Selective Catalytic Reduction Technology), HJS sets national and global standards.
