Applications
Application Cement and Lime Industry
In lime and cement production, combustion processes generate highly contaminated flue gases with high dust concentrations, chemically aggressive constituents, and temperatures above 450 °C, resulting in extremely demanding filtration requirements.
Conventional fabric filters are generally limited to peak temperatures of around 250 °C. The required cooling of flue gases significantly increases energy consumption, gas volume, and overall plant complexity
Against this background, we are consistently transferring our proven sintered metal filter technology (SMF®) to industrial high-temperature processes. The resulting advantages are clearly measurable from both a technical and economic perspective:
- Elimination of energy-intensive gas cooling prior to filtration
- No increase in gas volume due to cooling, enabling more compact plant designs
- Reduced need for peripheral equipment (cooling towers, quench systems, additional fans, complex piping)
- Simplified plant design with lower engineering effort and fewer interfaces
- Lower capital expenditure for auxiliary equipment and steel structures
- Improved utilization of waste heat due to higher gas temperatures after filtration
- Increased potential for power generation, e.g. via ORC systems
- Reliable protection of turbines, SCR catalysts, scrubbers, and CO₂ capture systems
- Extended service life even under abrasive conditions
- Higher plant availability and reduced operational risks
Real-world projects in the lime, cement, and steel industries have already provided practical experience under actual process conditions. These applications demonstrate an excellent separation efficiency of 99.995%. Compared to ceramic filters, SMF filter elements are significantly more robust, impact-resistant, wear-resistant, and easier to install.
